The purpose of this project was to examine the predictive value
of selected organizational, leadership and work role variables on
the organizational commitment (affective, normative and continuance)
of a national sample of radiographers. Co principal investigators

The departments of Adult and Community College Education (ACCE)
and Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (MSTE) within the
College of Education were awarded a grant to develop a prototype
on line graduate certificate in Community College Teaching for faculty
who teach in STEM related areas. The courses developed for the graduate
certificate will enhance faculty abilities in both on line and traditional
classroom environments. The program will provide a means whereby
current community college faculty can upgrade their instructional
skills.

Diversity Institute Scholar, Center for Integration of Research,
Teaching and Learning, CIRTL, an NSF-Funded Center. As a diversity
institute scholar, Offering expertise on gendered issues in teaching
and learning, both in formal and informal educational settings. Role
includes monthly consultations with stem faculty to answer questions
and discuss diversity education topics; ongoing contribution to a
resource library, development of case studies for stem scholars interested
in diversity issues, and participation in a multidisciplinary institute

This project combines a traditional return on investment (ROI)
evaluation with an innovative strategy focusing on the development
of social capital. The faculty researchers have been hired to conduct
an evaluative study on one of WakeMed’s workforce development
programs (Health Career Pathways II, or HCPII. We seek to understand
how individual and organizational social capital may have increased
as a result of the workforce development program.

This year we conducted a factor analysis and revised the PACE survey,
as well as completely revising the website.
In 2004-2005, provided leadership training for 80 community college
department chairs, including organizing all events and conducting
two workshops in each of three seminars.
National Community College Hispanic Council Leadership Fellows Program,
co-sponsored by NCSU/ACCE. In 2005, trained 13 Hispanic community
college administrators from five states who aspire to the presidency.
Established a website for follow-up training and communication. Since
the program began in 2003, one Fellow has been named to an Interim
Presidency and eight Fellows have been promoted.
Liaison to the North Carolina community colleges. Attended meetings
of the presidents association and served on the advisory board to
the Hispanic/Latino Initiative, a grant-funded program to determine
the needs of the state’s Spanish-speaking population and how
the community colleges might meet these needs.
