National Initiative for Leadership and Institutional Effectiveness (NILIE assessment program is grounded in theories of collaborative and transformational leadership in which the quality of influence that a leader exerts with followers has a direct impact on the performance of a college's divisions, department units, teams, and the organization as a whole.) Department Chairs Institute (A partnership of the Adult and Higher Education Department (AHE) at North Carolina State University (NCSU) and the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS), the Department Chairs Institute (DCI) is designed to build the skills of front-line academic administrators in the 58 community colleges: http://ced.ncsu.edu/ahe/dci/index.html.
