The Department of Adult and Higher Education offers several education options for students wishing to pursue a certificate. All of these certificate programs are available online through distance learning.

Certificate in Community College Teaching

The online graduate certificate in Adult and Community College Education offers students an option to pursue a graduate certificate in community college teaching. The graduate certificate in community college teaching focuses on developing the knowledge and skills necessary to design and deliver course-related content through technology-enhanced learning environments for faculty who teach in community colleges and other post secondary settings. The courses developed for the graduate certificate will enhance faculty abilities in both online and classroom environments.

Certificate in E-Learning

The online graduate certificate in E-learning will provide professionals with specialized knowledge and skills to apply Internet and Web-based technologies within schools, higher education settings, community and corporate settings. Jointly offered through the Dept. of AHE and CI this program has recently been approved. Specific information on application and courses will be available in August, 2008.

Certificate in Training and Development

The online graduate certificate in Training and Development consists of a selected set of for-credit courses that are offered in an online format. The certificate courses are selected to offer a cohesive continuing education opportunity for people in training roles in business and industry. The certificate is designed for the person who has recently advanced into a training position and is without the academic preparation needed or for those choosing to increase their knowledge and skills in training for current or future jobs. The certificate is not intended for career exploration nor is it a prerequisite for or part of a graduate degree program.

Adult & Community College Education

Degrees in Adult and Community College Education are designed to prepare practitioners for leadership and teaching positions in their work with educating adults. The focus is on the study and practice of teaching, learning, leading, and education-planning for individuals, groups, and society. This area of study offers MS, MEd, and EdD degrees and a Graduate Certificate program, plus a distance education option.

Degrees in Higher Education Administration are designed for those who seek advanced professional preparation for managing and administering programs and services in colleges and universities. The doctoral degree is also intended for those whose intentions include faculty, research, and policy positions. The focus is on preparing individuals to shape the future of postsecondary education through administrative, faculty, research, and policy careers in higher education, and in related settings such as government agencies and institutes for research and policy.
