Human Resource Education is the study and practice of the sustainable and ethical development of individuals and organizations through learning, performance improvement, and the use of innovative technologies. The program is designed for working professionals or individuals who desire to enter internal or external training positions in business, government, education and other organizations.
The program offers both doctoral (Ed.D.) and master's degrees (M.S. and M.Ed.), and a graduate certificate, with an opportunity to specialize in an area of Adult & Community College Education, Human Resource Development, or Training and Development. Students specializing in Training and Development may choose the distance education option.
Doctor of Adult & Community College Education
The Doctor of Adult and Community College Education (Ed.D.) degree with a Training and Development specialization is designed to prepare practitioners for leadership and teaching positions in their work with adults. The specialization in Training and Development is offered to experienced training and development practitioners. The focus of the doctoral program is on strategic applications of training and development with an emphasis on continuous learning support for individuals and organizations. The purpose of the program is to improve analytic capabilities for human performance improvement within three contexts: organizational analysis and needs assessment; planning and implementing HPI strategies; evaluation and process improvement.

Master of Education in Training and Development
The Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Training and Development is designed for entering or experienced training professionals who work in internal or external training positions in business and industry. The program is structured around a core body of knowledge in adult education and principles and theories of human performance improvement and instructional design. The curriculum builds advanced understandings and skills in program design and the applications of learning theory incorporating principles, research, and practice. The degree program is built on principles of adult learning emphasizing interaction, collaboration, and team learning. It is also designed primarily for the working adult completing graduate studies on a part-time basis. Courses are delivered using the Internet and integrated multimedia.

Graduate Certificate in training and Development
The Training and Development Certificate consists of a selected set of for-credit courses that are offered in an online format. The certificate courses are selected to offer a cohesive continuing education opportunity for people in training roles in business and industry. The certificate is designed for the person who has recently advanced into a training position and is without the academic preparation needed or for those choosing to increase their knowledge and skills in training for current or future jobs. The certificate is not intended for career exploration nor is it a prerequisite for or part of a graduate degree program. The certificate is made up of a minimum of five 3-credit courses. The student will complete the identified certificate courses through continuous enrollment (excluding summer sessions) until contract requirements are met. Participants must hold a baccalaureate degree to enroll.
