Information Sessions for Prospective Students 2008-2009

Information sessions feature an overview of the department and the admissions process. The latter half of the meetings will be spent with a faculty member from your program area of interest (Adult Education and Community College, Higher Education Administration or Human Resource Development) to discuss your questions and concerns. This meeting will speak to academic opportunities in the Department, get your questions answered, and give you the opportunity to personally meet with a faculty member in the program.

Dr. Susan Bracken honored with University award

Dr. Susan Bracken was honored for her outstanding public service to the university, and for her service as the Chair of the University Standing Committee on Extension, Engagement, and Economic Development. Dr. Bracken was presented this award by Dr. James J. Zuiches, Vice Chancellor for Extension, Engagement, and Economic Development.

Third Annual Graduate School Research Symposium, March 19, 2008

Dr. Audrey Jaeger Honored

Congratulations to Dr. Audrey Jaeger who will be receiving the  2007 North Carolina College Personnel Association's Distinguished Scholar Award this fall.  This award represents recognition of significant contributions to the field of Student Development in Higher Education.  This includes, but is not limited to, some scholarly contribution, research, teaching, or service to the field of student development and ideally NCCPA.  Additionally, he/she must be involved with, or had some involvement with, a North Carolina college or university. As a recipient of this award, Dr. Jaeger will be speaking at the annual fall conference, often as the keynote speaker.  This year, the conference will be a joint effort with the North Carolina Housing Officers group (NCHO) and will be held in Greenville, NC, November 14-16.

Visit by Fulbright Millennium Scholar – Dr. Pundy Pillay

This Fall from September 4 to October 3rd and again in mid March, the Department will be sponsoring Dr. Pundy Pillay of South Africa.  Dr. Punday will be researching “Access and Equity In Higher Education: Assessing Financing Policies - A Comparative Study Of Seven African Countries”
During his Fall visit, he will be presenting:

September 20th – Thursday 6-8 pm Lecture and Reception:  “Higher Education in Sub-Saharan Africa”Location: Poe 120

September 25th – Tuesday – evening “South Africa: 13 years after democracy.” Co-sponsored with the College of Education, The Office of International Affairs, and the Africana Studies Program

The North Carolina Distance Learning Association (NC DLA) has recognized the North Carolina State University, College of Education, Training and Development Online program as the 2007 NC DLA Program Award Winner.  This award acknowledges outstanding accomplishments in the area of distance learning for the state of North Carolina.
