Needs & Opportunities

A gift to the College of Education makes a difference in the lives of our students and faculty by providing the critical support that allows the College to meet needs beyond state allocations.

The need for teachers and other educators, especially those with math and science foundations, is at a critical point in our State and nation. Financial support can allow our College to help meet the demand for teachers – with our emphasis on science and math – our graduates can fill the gap in many communities. Scholarships for future teachers and educators help encourage students to consider teaching as a major when faced with the financial considerations of college, loans, and future income.

Specifically, the College can help produce increased numbers of teachers through increased support in the following areas:

Scholarships

Scholarships provides resources to recruit future educators and to compete for talented students.

Graduate Fellowships

Graduate fellowships provide resources to recruit future educators seeking graduate degrees and to support innovative research conducted by graduate students.
Faculty Support

Faculty support provides endowment funds for professorships that help us recruit and retain distinguished teaching and research faculty.

Faculty Support

will enable us to conduct research and develop academic programs leading to educational innovation and knowledge that enhance student achievement and economic development in our communities.

Program Development

Program Development funding allows us to provide innovative educational outreach and engagement programming and to respond quickly to community needs or opportunities not provided for in our on-going academic budget.

Facilities and Equipment

Facilities and Equipment funding or gifts-in-kind provide support for innovative educational and technological facilities and equipment that helps develop and teach skills necessary for 21st century teaching and learning.

Unrestricted

Unrestricted gifts allows deans and those who know the school best to respond to the most pressing needs of the College of Education. It provides the means for the leadership to take advantage of unexpected opportunities and meet necessary challenges in a timely manner.

Unrestricted funds are particularly valuable because they can be used where they are most urgently needed, such as faculty and student initiatives, equipment for teaching, curriculum and program enhancement, financial aid and student services, and required matching monies for federal grants.

We greatly appreciate every gift made to the College in support of our students, faculty and programs. Your support makes a difference not only in the lives of our students and faculty, but in the lives of those in the communities they serve.
