The College honored Linda Harrill with the 2007 Distinguished Alumni Award. At a university-wide ceremony on November 9, the College recognized Harrill for her contributions to education in North Carolina. |
Since receiving her M.Ed. in Special Education (BEH) and Education Administration from NC State, Harrill has been very active in education across the state. For the past 18 years, she has served as the State Director of Communities In Schools of North Carolina. Harrill oversees the replication of the CIS process across the state, works with North Carolina business leaders, establishes state-level and national partnerships to benefit local programs, and maintains relationships with other non-profits, agencies, and the legislature.
Ms. Harrill serves on the national CIS Committee for the Total Quality System and is serving as an educational consultant to NC Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service. She has served on numerous boards and councils including the National Mentoring Partnership Public Policy Board and to the NC High School Reform Task Force. She coordinates the North Carolina Mentoring Council and is the state contact for NC Promise for the Office of the Governor within the Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service. In 1992, Linda received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, one of the state’s highest civilian honors.
