Welcome to the Teacher Section. These pages are geared towards teachers, but the contents can be useful to students and parents as well. The focal point of this section is a set of lesson plans developed specifically for middle school students to learn more about St. Augustine's College and its rich heritage. The lesson plans are unique in that they were written with the intent of integrating the curriculum and inclusive of students' many intelligences.

For each lesson plan, we have identified the theme, purpose, objectives, materials, suggested teaching approach, and assessment. We believe that these ideas are innovative and interdisciplinary approaches for students to learn about St. Augustine's College, its rich heritage, and how the College has contributed to the education and history of African Americans in North Carolina. To make the lessons more useful and relevant to you, we have correlated all of our lessons to North Carolina's Standard Course of Studies. We have also included a downloadable Microsoft Word version of the lesson plans so that you can download our ideas and make adjustments based on the needs of your students and school setting. Enjoy!
