Saint Augustine's College was founded in 1867 and established by the Protestant Episcopal Church to serve free African enslaved people.  Located just minutes away from downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, Saint Augustine's campus is spread out over 105 beautiful acres.  Often noted and recognized for historical landmarks and buildings, St. Augustine is famous for St. Augustine’s College Chapel, St. Agnes Hospital, and Taylor Hall.

Sarah Hunter founded St. Agnes Hospital in 1895.    For many years St. Agnes was the only teaching hospital for blacks between Atlanta and Washington D.C.  The building was severely damaged by fire and is currently undergoing renovations to develop an administration center for the college.

St. Augustine's College Chapel was built in 1895.  One of the oldest buildings on campus, the chapel was made possible through the acquisition by the Freedmen's Bureau.  The chapel was built under the guidance and vision of Rev. Henry Beard Delany.  He was the first black bishop elected to the Episcopal Church and the first bishop to graduate from St. Augustine School.

In 1928, St. Augustine’s became a four-year college of higher learning.  It has been a pioneer for historically black colleges and universities. Today St. Augustine's College offers programs in 38 academic disciplines with a student/faculty ratio of 13:1.  It provides a one on one educational setting that allows every student the opportunity to be academically successful.
